How to setup the remote monitor for the Manager30

The REDARC Manager30 Battery Management System requires an initial setup for language, battery details, and time, followed by a full AC charge cycle to accurately calculate State of Charge.

The Remote Monitor is controlled with four buttons and can be customised, allowing adjustments to display, load disconnect, alarms, and DC input isolation. Once configured, it provides accurate State of Charge tracking, charge and discharge status, alarms, and easy system navigation.

REDARC recommends seeking the support of a qualified auto electrician or technician.

This information is applicable for the following products:

  • Manager30 Battery Management System (BMS1230S3, BMS1230S3-NA, BMS1230S3-EU, BMS1230S3-UK)

For a detailed walkthrough and advanced configuration options refer to the REDARC installation manual.

Initial setup

  1. When the Manager30 is powered on for the first time, the Remote Monitor will guide you through essential setup prompts including:
    • Language selection
    • Battery type and capacity
    • Date and time settings
  2. Once completed, you’ll be taken to the Home screen which displays battery charge and information.

Please note, at this stage the battery charge percentage will show as "Calculating". This is completely normal — the Manager30 needs to complete a full charge cycle to accurately learn your battery’s full point.

We recommend connecting the system to AC mains power to allow the Manager30 to carry out this initial full charge cycle, this enables accurate State of Charge (SoC) tracking.

Navigating the monitor interface

The monitor includes four control buttons:

  • Up / Down – Navigate through menu options
  • Enter (Right) – Confirm selection
  • Home (Left) – Return to the home screen

Other interface elements:

  • Top left – Menu title
  • Bottom left/right – Button function labels
  • Side scroll bar – Your current position in the menu

Customise your monitor view

To customise your view, hold the left (home) button on any screen to set it as your new default home screen.

HOW TO ACCESS SYSTEM SETTINGS

Open the Battery Management System settings by pressing and holding Up and Down for two seconds.

Use the right button to edit each setting and scroll through options before pressing right again to confirm.

A brief overview of each setting:

REMOTE SETTINGS

Adjust display preferences including backlight duration, brightness and contrast.

ADVANCED SETTINGS

Control features like Load Disconnect, Ignition Trigger and Alarm Settings.

LOAD DISCONNECT

Manage when loads turn on/off based on voltage, state of charge or manual override.

Please note, the appropriate method will need to be chosen based on the individual system

  • Use voltage for typical lead acid battery setups
  • Use state of charge for lithium or heavy-load applications

ALARMS

Alarms can be set to notify when voltage or SoC drops below safe levels. Set the alarm just above your Load Disconnect threshold to allow time to take corrective action.

Configuring the DC input isolation

Set how the Manager30 responds to DC inputs:

  • 12V Only – Accepts input from 12V systems (ON at 13.2V / OFF at 12.7V)
  • 24V Only – Accepts input from 24V systems (ON at 26.4V / OFF at 25.7V)
  • Ignition – Requires an ignition signal for use with variable voltage alternators
  • On – Draws power until the source drops to 9V
  • Auto – Automatically detects 12V or 24V and sets thresholds accordingly

Final check

With the setup complete, the Remote Monitor will now:

  • Accurately display State of Charge
  • Show charge and discharge status
  • Allow easy navigation and adjustments
  • Provide alarms and system protections
