How to change the REDWorks battery type

The process for changing the battery type on REDWorks Scout, Nomad and Pioneer panels depends on the model, but all require confirming the battery can safely accept the selected charging profile.

Scout25, Scout40 and Nomad40 units are adjusted manually by removing the cover, accessing the wiring and selecting a profile that matches the battery’s specifications.

Scout50 and Nomad50 allow changes either through the control button on the BCDC or via Bluetooth® using the RedVision or Configurator app, with AGM and Calcium options requiring the app.

The Pioneer50 offers the most flexibility, letting users change the battery type through the control button, the RedVision screen or Bluetooth® apps, and also allows battery size configuration through the screen or apps. Correct profile selection is critical to avoid overcharging or damaging the battery.

Check the manufacturer’s data for your battery and ensure that the Maximum voltage of the Charging Profile you select does not exceed the manufacturer’s recommended maximum charging voltage. If the Maximum voltage is too high for your battery type, select another Charging Profile.

The Heated Lithium (H) charging profile should only be used with lithium batteries that feature a functioning heating element. If unsure, the standard Lithium (Li) charging profile must be used. Using the wrong charging profile may damage your lithium battery.
