What is an electric brake controller?
An Electric Brake Controller connects your tow vehicle to your trailer’s braking system, allowing you to control the trailer brakes from the tow vehicle.
Electric brake controllers give you full control over braking force, providing less stress on your tow vehicle, better stability, and help you slow down smoothly and safely.
Without one, your trailer is just along for the ride. Reliance entirely on your vehicles brakes increases stopping distances and wears down your brakes faster, especially when towing heavy loads or in challenging conditions.
Why do I need an electric brake controller?
If you’re towing a caravan, camper, boat or work trailer, you need to be in control. In Australia, trailers with a GTM of 750–2000kg must be fitted with brakes on at least one axle, while those exceeding 2000kg are legally required to have electric brakes. For other regions, check your local regulations.

BRAKING MODES EVERYDAY PROPORTIONAL
When the LED’s illuminate blue, the trailer brakes are applied in proportion to the vehicle’s brakes. The harder you brake, the harder the trailer brakes.
MANUAL OFF-ROAD
When the LED’s illuminate green, the trailer brake force is set by the driver. 0 is no trailer braking, 10 is full trailer braking.
EMERGENCY SWAYSTOP™
SwayStop applies the trailer brakes independently of the vehicle brakes to correct trailer-sway while illuminating the LED’s red. In Everyday mode, light braking is applied. In Manual Off‑road mode, brakes are applied at the set level.
