What is a 24V to 24V DC-DC converter for?

This information is applicable to the following products:

  • 24V 20A In-Vehicle DC Power Supply (DPS2420)
  • 24V 10A In-Vehicle DC Power Supply (DPS2410)

The DPS series In-vehicle DC Power Supplies feature technology designed to supply 24V electrical loads such as lamps, radios, small motors, computer and communications equipment, fridges, pumps and TVs from a 12 V or 24 V automotive power system.

The input voltage of the DPS can be above, below or equal to the output voltage making it ideal for running equipment where specific load voltages or extreme voltage drop are an issue. The DPS is also designed to isolate the main battery from the load when the vehicle is turned off to avoid flattening the vehicle’s starter battery.

What is a 24V DC to DC converter for?

In trucks and other large vehicles that run long wires from front to back, there can be significant voltage drops along the way. A 24V brake light may, for instance only receive 19V when turned on. The 24V to 24V converter take an input from 9V to 36V and ensures that the output is maintained at 24V.
